Activities

According to the size of the vessel, the number of engine ratings can change, from 1 to 6-7.
In the engine room, the Oilers participate to the maintenance and repair of the main and secondary engines and equipment of the vessel; under the supervision of an Engine officer of the Fitter.
They are in charge of oiling the apparels and accessories, cleaning the engine room. They assist the Pumpman during plugging-unplugging of pipes to change or fill-in fluid (water, oil, gaz…).

Independently of the vessel type, the safety and security principles, the protection of the environment apply and require the following skills:

– Technical skills
– Availability, rigorousness, vigilance
– Adaptability
– Capacity to work in a team
